Remembering 9/11
September 11, 2001 changed America for ever. Islamist extremists hijacked four planes that were flying above the US. Two of them were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. Another was crashed into the Pentagon, the top military building in the capital city, Washington DC. The fourth plane crashed into a field, 80 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The attacks shocked the world. It was the biggest terrorist attack ever on America. 2,996 people were killed and more than 6,000 people were injured.
Although devestating, these attacks made the United States stronger and more secure. America has learned from the past and continues to march on into a brighter future. God bless America!
