Born and raised in Florida this list in comprised of all my favorite cheap places to go and cheap things to do with my family.
Some places and ideas listed are just one or two hours of fun and some are all day fun!

Apopka Station

Apopka Station is a stop of the West Orange Trail. There is a fun playground with areas for toddlers and older kids. There are also picnic pavilions a grill and public restrooms. You can also bring a picnic lunch and picnic on the grassy area across the street.
Hours: Dawn to Dusk

Avian Reconditioning Center
323 West Lester Rd. Apopka, Fl 32712
The Avian Reconditioning Center, or ARC, is a bird of prey rehabilitation and education facility. Her you can get a personal encounter with their resident eagles, hawks, falcons, kites and owls.

There is no entrance fee. Instead they ask for donations. At least $5.00 is appreciated.
Brunswick Wekiva Lanes
2160 Semoran Blvd. Apopka, FL 32703
Bowling is fun for all ages! At Wekiva Lanes they cater to everyone. Along with the bowling there is a snack bar and an arcade. There are also special days and times they offer Cosmic Bowling. They just recently updated their facility with high tech screens so your time there is sure to be a blast!

Kelly Park/Rock Springs Run

Natural Spring and Lazy River. 68 degrees year round! There is a full-service concession, picnic pavilions and a playground.
Personal Recommendations:
Arrive early. Entry will be postponed or denied if maximum capacity is reached.
Bring your own tubes/floats. Personal or two person tubes only. NO TUBES over 5 FEET are allowed.
Bring your own towels, snorkel gear and beach toys.
Locker Rental is available for valuables.
Start at the beginning of the Lazy River where you can jump into the springs.
Play ball in the shallow beach area.

Kit Land Nelson Park

Kit Land is a 5 acre park with a gazebo, picnic areas and a small Space Net Duo playground.
They also host many events like, Lights on Christmas, Apopka Fair, Food Truck Days and more!

Museum of Apopkans

The Apopkan Museum is a small log cabin building where you can find the history of Apopka, FL. You can learn about the stages of developement and see artifacts. Some dated to 10,000 years ago.

Arrive early. There are lots of Preschool and Summer Camp groups that take advantage of this great deal too!
Get a Regal Crown Club Card it's free! Earn credits for buying tickets and concession items and get rewards like free popcorn, drinks and movie tickets!
See a long line?! No worries, Regal is prepared to open a second theater if needed to accommodate everyone.

Wekiwa Springs State Park offers 13 miles of hiking trails, canoeing, kayaking, picnic areas and more! They also host special events throughout the year.

*Florida residents who are 65 years of age or older or who hold a social security disability award certificate or a 100 percent disability award certificate from the Federal Government are permitted to receive a 50 percent discount on current base campsite fees. Proof of eligibility is required.
Primitive Camping Fees:
$5.00 per person, per night, plus tax.
